With respect to stopping the spread of COVID-19, the overwhelming scientific evidence presents the optimal, safest solution when social distancing is not possible, is always for students and staff members to wear face coverings. Conversely, the younger the student, the less feasible this may be. Additionally, some may experience health challenges or have sensory issues that may make having a facial covering inappropriate. However, for most of us this practice is applicable and necessary and Oilton Public School will promote and reinforce the use of facial coverings.
We are reminded that upon the guidance and recommendation of the CDC, OSDE, and OSDH that wearing a face covering at school protects both ourselves and those in proximity. Wearing a face covering at school is a display of respect and care for fellow students and staff. This act of respect and courtesy is also in consideration that the individual wearing the face covering understands the responsibility to their family, school family, and the community.
Therefore, with the ultimate goal in mind of preventing the spread of COVID-19 within Oilton Public Schools, a school year of uninterrupted learning, and until COVID-19 conditions reach a level of safety that shows otherwise, the following face covering guidelines will be in place.
Face coverings are required for all STAFF and STUDENTS in grades 4-12 with exemptions for adults and children who are physically unable to wear them. Building-level administration will determine the limited times during the school day when social distancing is actually feasible and will notify students/staff specifically as such. One neck gaiter will be provided by the District to each student in this category. Additional face coverings will not be provided by the District. The student may utilize the neck gaiter provided by the District or some other face covering of their own provision.

Additional face coverings will not be provided by the District. The student may utilize the neck gaiter provided by the District or some other face covering of their own provision.

ALL VISITORS/GUESTS/SERVICE PROVIDERS will be restricted, and that any visitor allowed within the premises will always wear face coverings. Temperature checks will be required of all visitors. In situations where schools and districts have partnerships with community organizations, health care providers, and local organizations that provides educational and wraparound services to students and staff, such patrons will be allowed into buildings following the same procedures as for school personnel.
